The MÉMOIRES project flows from LE CYCLE DES BERCEUSES, a wide-ranging multidisciplinary research project addressing themes of memory, transmission, roots, childhood and old age. We’ve imagined a concept in which the performing arts, public art and performance itself intersect with cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, drawing on intergenerational transmission and the return to one’s roots.
MÉMOIRES is a series of three collective performances to be performed in October, November and December 2016 in Québec City : LE BANQUET, LA VEILLÉE and LES CORVÉES. The intent is to take a fresh look at the community rituals and holidays that marked the passage of time in Quebec. These were essential touchstones that are deeply rooted in our culture and within ourselves.
